OUR STORY

A timeline of events

OCTOBER 2021

Our club, Rochdale AFC, partnered with Her Game Too in October 2021.

We now have a strong, passionate team of 7 who are dedicated to implementing the values of Her Game Too into our club.

HER GAME TOO AT THE CROWN OIL ARENA

Since the partnership was created, we wanted to ensure our fans knew where to go if they were to encounter sexism at Rochdale.

We created reporting posters which can now be seen around the stadium. This messaging is important for new and existing fans to be aware of.

There are two options to report - one which will go to the club and the other which will take fans to our reporting system on the webiste.

GIVING OUR FEMALE FANS A VOICE

We are lucky to have a regular programme feature in the match-day programme where we can update fans on our latest Her Game Too perspective but also talk all things Rochdale from a female fan perspective.

We also have the opportunity promote our podcast, The Dale Way, which is hosted by ambassador Charlotte Cromarty and advocate Isabelle Whiteley.

DONATING BACK INTO THE COMMUNITY

Rochdale AFC have always been committed to supporting the initiative from the 'On the Baw' campaign which is to supply free sanitary products in all football stadiums. Rochdale have been honouring this since 2018.

Ahead of our dedicated fixture game, we thought there may be more women in the Rochdale area who are in need of sanitary products. We are utilising the Community Trust bus at Rochdale AFC as a drop-off point for anyone who wishes to donate any unused sanitary products which will then go back into the local community.

Ambassador Charlotte Cromarty said:

“I am really pleased to set up this donation point at the Crown Oil Arena, on behalf of Her Game Too. It’s something that we’ve all been passionate about, both at the club and Her Game Too.

We believe that no-one should have to buy sanitary products and that they should be available if someone is in need. We want people to be comfortable at games, and initiatives like these can go a long way to helping women feel at ease when they are at the ground. We will be very appreciative of any donation, and we thank you for supporting females in football.”

SUPPORT FROM OUR PLAYERS

We were delighted to have Richard O'Donnell as an official Her Game Too advocate for Rochdale AFC. Richard has been a professional in the game for many years - so we believe be a huge influence in creating a positive change for women & girls in football.

O'Donnell said “I am very proud to have become the first player to join Her Game Too as a Player Advocate. When I got offered the chance to represent the club and support the campaign, it was something that I was really keen to do.

Hopefully more players at other clubs will now come on board and do the same sort of thing. Most clubs have either got women’s football teams and/ or women working within the club, so I think it’s really important that there’s a commitment from the playing side as well that we’re all together and that we all support the key messages of Her Game Too."

SUPPORTING THE NEXT GENERATION

We have a huge fan of our The Dale Way podcast in Maliyah [pictured left and right with advocate Isabelle Whiteley]. Maliyah is local to the area and is a fantastic young footballer. We at Her Game Too Rochdale are huge fans of Maliyah's football journey - so we have invited her to join us at a Rochdale game this season. We have also featured Maliyah in one of our programme features this season!
