OUR STORY
JULY 2021
Our club, Bristol Rovers, were the very first league club to partner with Her Game Too in July 2021 - two months after we launched the campaign.

With two founders of Her Game Too being lifelong Gasheads - this partnership meant a lot to us. We now have an addition of 7 other Bristol Rovers fans who are passionate advocates of the campaign.
HER GAME TOO AT THE MEMORIAL STADIUM
Prior to the 2021/22 season - we were donated a Her Game Too perimeter board by Total Print Solutions which was permanently installed at the ground throughout the season.

The perimeter board remains for the 2022/23 season and the club have generously donated 30 seconds of LED space to Her Game Too for every home game!
FRONT OF SHIRT SPONSORSHIP
We were extremely proud and honoured to be offered the official front of shirt sponsorship for the Gas Girls on their away kit for the 21/22 season. This sponsorship was generously donated by the Bristol Rovers Community Trust who previously ran and funded the Bristol Rovers Women's team.

The shirt is now displayed proudly in the National Football Museum in Manchester.
DEDICATED FIXTURES
On the 23rd April 2022 - Bristol Rovers held a dedicated Her Game Too fixture at The Memorial Stadium. The day consisted of Bristol Rovers Women and Her Game Too merchandise sold on the day, a special Q&A about the campaign and HGT flags given to kids.
The best part of the fixture was our women's team were able to play on the home pitch directly after the men - with full access to the changing rooms, PA system and a much bigger crowd. The club offered 2-4-1 tickets for both the men & women's fixtures.
FIRST TIME FANS
For our next dedicated fixture in March 2023, we were thrilled to welcome 20 women and girls for their first ever football match experience at Bristol Rovers vs Portsmouth! This special day included free tickets, gift bags, food and drink vouchers, a match day tour, pictures in the dugout, and an opportunity to meet the players. The Her Game Too team provided care and company throughout the game, ensuring an unforgettable experience. The players warmed up in Her Game Too tees for the fixture, promoting the message that football is for all.
Everyone had a great day and some have even returned to matches since!
COLLABORATIVE EVENTS
In August 2023, we celebrated women's football in style at our special Her Game Too event, held alongside the Women's World Cup Final between England and Spain. The day kicked off with a screening of the final, followed by an exciting match between the Gas Girls and Bath City Women at Lockleaze Sports Centre. Sponsored by GRIT Consultancy, Crystal Business Finance, TwoSix, DBD Security, Bristol Rovers Supporters Club, and JustEat, the event featured a face painter, Her Game Too cupcakes, goodie bags, merchandise, and a penalty shootout with Captain Gas for the kids. Despite the Lionesses' result, it was a truly special day celebrating women's football.
GAS GIRLS CUP FINAL
In March 2024, we proudly worked with Bristol Rovers to organise the Gas Girls at the Memorial Stadium for their cup final, sponsored by Utilita and Her Game Too. The memorable day featured a Her Game Too stall, exclusive merchandise, a female-led band, food and drinks stalls, special programmes, face painting, and Utilita's Football Rebooted scheme. The Gas Girls made a statement by walking out in Her Game Too x Utilita branded warm-up tees. The event drew a record-breaking crowd of 1,633 fans, far surpassing their usual average of 200 at Lockleaze Sports Centre, making it an unforgettable celebration of the Gas Girls and women's football.
THE TAKEOVER
We are thrilled to announce that Bristol Rovers have officially integrated the Gas Girls into the main club, a milestone Her Game Too has long advocated for. This exciting development means the women’s team will now go semi-professional, playing every home game at the main stadium and enjoying full access to the main training ground and its top facilities. We are relieved and overjoyed to see this commitment to elevating women's football within the club, marking a significant step forward for equality and support in the sport.
REPORTING SYSTEMS
Whilst significant progress has been made, we must ensure women continue to feel safe at our club. Bristol Rovers have a specialised reporting system for all types of discrimination. As female fans who attend games regularly, we flagged to the club that there needs to be more visibility of how to report discrimination and that sexism falls under that umbrella.
We have installed posters around the stadium with details on how to report - plus big screen graphics which are displayed at every home game.
VISIBILITY
We love to promote the idea of one club, one community. Alongside the annual dedicated fixtures, the club are looking at ways to integrate our Gas Girls into the club even more with visibility around the stadium. You can now find Gas Girls merchandise available to buy in the club shop. The Gas Girls logo is also spray painted as part of a mural on the side of the East Stand - a new addition to the 2022/23 season.
The club also make Her Game Too merchandise available to buy in the club shop and FanZone for our dedicated fixtures.
FEATURES
Our Her Game Too branding is available on cups supplied at the stadium which increases visibility and helps us to raise awareness.

There was also a regular 'Fair Play' programme feature for every home game in the 21/22 season. We would use this feature to update fans on the progress of Her Game Too, alongside sharing stories of sexism to help raise awareness of the issue. We are always looking for other ways to raise awareness and turn it into a positive.
