With rugby fever hitting the nation as the Women’s Rugby World Cup final approaches, Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union (GRFU) has become the latest sporting organisation to partner with Her Game Too.

GRFU shares Her Game Too’s values of promoting rugby as a game for all and has more than 80 affiliated clubs and over 700 teams across its five districts of Bristol, Cheltenham, Gloucester, the Forest of Dean and Stroud.

With attendance records being broken as England hosts the World Cup this month, female rugby is thriving - with the Red Roses reaching the tournament’s final where they will play Canada in front of more than 80,000 spectators at a sold-out Twickenham on Saturday, 27 September.

With players inspired by England rugby stars such as Ellie Kildunne, Marcus Smith, Jess Breach and Ben Earl, GRFU oversees age group teams from mini and youth rugby through to adult 15-a-side and walking rugby, for all genders.

Among its dedicated female provisions are the Under-18s Female Development League and county teams for Senior Women, Under-18s and Under-16s county teams – the latter two teams forming part of the England Rugby Player Development Group.

GRFU will join the likes of Bristol Bears, Warrington Wolves, Bedford Blues and Wigan Warriors as Her Game Too Rugby partners.

Kirsty Mitchell, Head of Rugby at Her Game Too, said: “This new partnership with the Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union marks a significant step forward in our shared commitment to championing inclusivity, equality, and the empowerment of women and girls within the sport.

“This collaboration highlights our mutual dedication to creating safe, welcoming environments across all levels of rugby.

“Her Game Too Rugby and the GRFU aim to drive meaningful change, promote awareness, and ensure that rugby continues to be a game for everyone.

“We are excited to join forces with GRFU and look forward to working closely with them, their clubs, and the wider community to support our shared values and goals.

“This partnership represents a positive step toward lasting impact and equality within the rugby family.”

Emily Ryall, the GRFU President, said: “We are delighted to develop this new partnership with Her Game Too.

"As someone who grew up in the era where there were few opportunities for women and girls to play, and there were entrenched and negative views about the suitability of the game for women, it is incredibly heartening to see how the game has developed.

“But we also need to remember that it takes an ongoing effort to keep these opportunities available. Her Game Too is an organisation which will continue this momentum, to ensure that rugby - whether player, spectator, coach or official - is a game for everyone.

“The GRFU is committed to making rugby open to all and this partnership with Her Game Too is a demonstration of this ambition.”
