AWARD-WINNING PODCAST PARTNERS WITH HER GAME TOO

The Absolute Football Podcast, which promotes football as “absolutely” for everyone, has become Her Game Too’s newest partner - as it launches an exciting new series about women in football.

With shows dedicated to women’s football and several female podcasters on the team, the Absolute Football Podcast shares the campaign’s values of making sport an inclusive space for all.

The podcast streams several live online shows each week focusing on different areas of football – the Premier League, women’s football, lower league and non-league – which can be watched and interacted with live on YouTube and X, and then listened back to on audio platforms afterwards.

The partnership coincides with the start of the podcast’s new Women in Football series, which features interviews with women involved in a range of roles in sport – including players, managers, backroom staff, ambassadors, fans and content creators.

The series, hosted by Her Game Too’s Rochdale Ambassador Charlotte Cromarty, explores what it means to be a woman in football - the journey, the challenges, and the growth of the women’s game - and it builds upon the podcast's existing women's football-related content, which included hosting live watch-alongs during Women's EURO 2025.

Sam Tapsell, Absolute Football Podcast CEO, said: “Our goal has been to create a diverse, safe-space podcast where people of all fanbases, ages, genders, races and backgrounds feel included, and open to talk about the game we all love.

“The values of Her Game Too - ensuring women have a safe space to enjoy football - have always resonated with us.

“We’ve been fortunate to welcome multiple Her Game Too Ambassadors and representatives, not only as part of our team but also as guests on the podcast over the years.

“Inclusivity is at the heart of what we do, with both male and female voices featured across all our shows, covering both men’s and women’s football."

Existing Her Game Too Ambassadors have played a part in building the Absolute Football Podcast’s avid following and success, which saw the podcast recognised at the Football Content Awards last year.

Charlotte Cromarty has been involved since the podcast’s early days as a regular host and contributor, while other Her Game Too volunteers, including Rebecca Shaw, Dhriti Ahir and Heather Hoggatt, are also contributors on the team.

Sam continued: “We’re lucky to have a fantastic, supportive community who watch, listen to, and engage with our podcast.

“We call our team the Pod Family and it truly feels like one - each show has its own buzzing group chat filled with football discussion, encouragement and friendship - especially during tough times.

“Our viewers - an extension of the Pod Family - are absolutely superb.

“Their regular support and interaction mean the world to us; they’re encouraged to join live show chats and interact with hosts, or simply sit back and enjoy the latest football topics.

“The Absolute Football Podcast offers a space for people to come together, wherever they are, to talk and listen to the stories of the beautiful game.”

The podcast’s journey began in October 2022, when its four original members - Sam, Josh, Charlotte and Lucas - met on another football podcast.

The idea was to create a fun, welcoming show, starting with Premier League coverage and expanding to lower-league football as the team grew.

“Josh and his wife Becky created our fantastic branding, and together we brought to life the vision of a podcast that proudly declares: football is absolutely for everyone,” Sam said.

“The Absolute Football Podcast was born and, fast forward to today, we now host four live shows a week, airing at 8:30pm on YouTube and X (with replays available afterwards), and next-day audio on platforms like Spotify and Amazon Music via the Sport Social Podcast Network.

“We have over 1,600 YouTube subscribers and a large social following, and we’re supported by over 25 amazing contributors across our shows.”

One of the podcast’s many highlights to date came at last year’s Football Content Awards, when the team was nominated for three awards and won gold in the Best New Content Creator category at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“The 2024 Football Content Awards was a special milestone,” Sam said.

“As a relatively new podcast, we were humbled to be nominated in three categories: Best New Content Creator, Best in Lower League, and Best in Women’s Football.

“With our team spread across the country, it was a rare and wonderful chance for many of us to meet in person after hundreds of hours of live-streaming together.

“It’s cliché to say, but we genuinely didn’t expect to win anything. Being among such amazing creators was an honour.

“When our name was announced as Gold award winners for Best Content Creator, the shock on our faces was real and watching those videos still brings smiles to our faces."

“Earlier this year, Josh stepped back from the podcast for personal reasons, but he continues to support us and follows our progress.

“I’ve since taken on the role of managing and leading the podcast, supported by our incredible management team - Charlotte and Freya.

“Her Game Too’s Rochdale Ambassador Charlotte has been pivotal in creating, hosting and growing our Lower League show.

“Originally focused on EFL football, the show expanded to include non-league coverage, which we split into two separate shows in April - Absolutely Non-League in partnership with NL Full Time has been a tremendous success.

“Charlotte is a true testament to Her Game Too and I’m proud to build this podcast with her - and even prouder to call her a friend.

“Freya is one of our greatest ‘signings’, to use a football phrase. She joined us to help develop the Women’s Football Show, bringing knowledge, charisma, and passion to the growing women’s game.

“Alongside co-host Paul, they’ve taken the show to new heights, becoming fantastic ambassadors for women’s football.

“With 17 live watch-alongs during Women’s EURO 2025, their dedication to delivering content is outstanding.

"We’re also excited to launch our new Women in Football series in partnership with Her Game Too. Our partnership with the campaign is one we’re incredibly proud of. It’s the perfect alignment as we continue to showcase brilliant women in football through this new series.”
