HER GAME TOO CRICKET PARTNER WITH JENNI DOUGLASS WRITES

Her Game Too Cricket are delighted to announce a partnership with Jenni Douglass Writes, author of ‘The Cricket Mystery’ series with Tess & Eddie – reaffirming the campaign’s commitment to work with authors and publishers to inspire, educate and celebrate women and girls in cricket and beyond.

Through the adventures of Tess Walker, alongside her best friend Eddie, readers are transported to some of the most iconic grounds across the world, from Lord’s in England to the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Australia, solving mysteries and learning more about cricket.

The first edition of the series, Tess & The Ashes Catastrophe, is set at Lord's Cricket Ground where Tess and Eddie are on a mission to find the missing Ashes Urn. She and Eddie must follow the clues around Lord’s to find the Urn and catch the thief before cricket is ruined forever!

The second book, Tess & Sabotage at the SCG, is set at the Sydney Cricket Ground and involves an elaborate sabotage plot during a women’s T20 competition. With all the evidence pointing to Tess's cousin, Tess and Eddie must race to clear Jackie's name, crack the code and bring the mastermind to justice.

Full of cricket jargon and history, ‘The Cricket Mystery’ series celebrates a love of cricket through friendship, adventure, and positive messages.

A third book, set in India, is currently in the works and is due to be released late 2027. To keep up with any updates on the third instalment of ‘The Cricket Mystery’ series, follow @jennidouglasswrites on social media and visit their website: www.jennidouglasswrites.com

After recognising a lack of cricket books for young readers, particularly the ages of 8-12, and especially ones that had female characters front and centre, Jenni took it upon herself to change that...

“Inspired by my own daughter who plays and loves cricket, I felt there was a gap in the market for middle grade cricket books with a female voice.

My goal was to write stories about fun cricket history, friendship, and adventure, as well as positive messages.

The Cricket Mystery series is perfect to entice girls to read and learn more about the game.”

At Her Game Too, a core part of our mission is to celebrate female voices in sport and inspire the next generation. The alignment of the campaign’s aims and the ambition behind ‘The Cricket Mystery’ series, therefore, presents a fantastic opportunity to collaborate and it is with great pleasure that we are formally announcing this partnership.

As well as being an advocate for women and girls in sport, Jenni Douglass is also a champion for the National Year of Reading: UK-wide campaign designed to inspire more people to make reading a regular part of their lives.

In 2026, the official campaign is encouraging everyone to “Go All In” and reap the benefits that reading can bring to our lives.

“Instead of asking people to “find time to read”, Go All In brings reading to them, through their passions. It’s about showing that reading isn’t a separate world; it’s the heartbeat of culture itself.  Whatever people are into – sport, music, food, gaming, film, fashion, or creativity – we use it to draw them into reading. By starting with passions, not pressure, we can create a stronger, more connected reading culture across the UK.”

If you would like to learn more about the National Year of Reading, you can visit their website here: www.goallin.org.uk

Particularly relevant in this National Year of Reading is an emphasis on sport and literacy programmes and at Her Game Too, we are delighted to be playing our part by supporting fantastic authors and publishers who use their platform to not only share a love of cricket, but encourage more of us to read.

“If you’re into it, read into it”

On the partnership with Her Game Too Cricket, Jenni Douglass said: “I am delighted to be partnering with Her Game Too Cricket, a brilliant movement empowering women and girls.

We follow the same ethos that girls DO belong in cricket and I’m excited to work with them to encourage more girls to fall in the love with the game as much as we have.”

Paige Caunce, Head of Her Game Too Cricket, said: “We are thrilled to be announcing this partnership with Jenni Douglass and ‘The Cricket Mystery’ series.

Since coming across Jenni’s books, we have been keen supporters of her work. Growing up playing and following cricket, I know that young Paige would have loved having a character like Tess to be entertained and inspired by.

It fills us with such enthusiasm for the future that young cricketers are not only able to have a wide range of role models but can also have the opportunity to consume and enjoy different types of cricket media.

I’d like to thank Jenni for their support of our campaign so far and we are very much looking forward to collaborating in the future.”
