Her Game Too Cricket are thrilled to announce a brand-new partnership with Chrissie Harrison, author of the ‘She Can Play’ romance book series.
Books – whether fiction or non-fiction – have tremendous power to inspire, educate and engage audiences. As each page is turned, readers can be transported across the globe, to different worlds and into someone else’s shoes.
In cricket, there is a very special relationship that exists between the game we love and written media. Reading plays a key role in how we engage with the sport, and cricket-related content presents a great opportunity for children and adults alike to experience reading by choice. From match reports, interviews with players and coaches, to books and magazines – reading about cricket allows us to learn more about the game, connect with others and be entertained.
Her Game Too Cricket are, therefore, excited to be entering a new chapter for the campaign by collaborating with authors and publishers – using our respective platforms to showcase each other’s work, encourage more people to pick up a book, as well as a bat and ball, and to connect with new audiences.

The ‘She Can Play’ series, authored by Chrissie Harrison, is a groundbreaking romantic comedy series in the world of women’s professional cricket. The first instalment of the trilogy - ‘Wicket Maiden’ - tells the story of Ellie, professional cricketer, and Adam, cricket fan, artist and photographer, as their friendship blossoms into something more.
Set for release on 7th May, ‘Seams Like Love’ - the second book of the ‘She Can Play’ trilogy – focuses on a love triangle involving teammates Eden and Brooke. It also touches on the mental health pressures of the sport. “If the two bowlers can’t repair their friendship, the team will suffer. If Eden can’t regain her mojo, her career might be over. And what of love? Seams impossible.”
Whilst the stories and relationships may be fictional, the ‘She Can Play’ trilogy is more than just a romance series...

“The books shine a light on women’s cricket – the mental and physical challenges, pressure
of relentless media attention, community outreach, fan engagement, and the finite careers of professional athletes.”
With the topics covered and their alignment with our mission in sport, Her Game Too Cricket are delighted to be supporting the ‘She Can Play’ series and partnering with Chrissie Harrison.
On the partnership, Chrissie said: “I’m delighted to now be partnering with Her Game Too.
When the first book in the ‘She Can Play’ trilogy was being planned and researched in 2024, I knew I wanted to support women’s and girls’ cricket in a meaningful way. From the very start, watching the sport, writing the books, and speaking with staff and players in the game has been a total joy. Connecting with Her Game Too is the icing on the cake.
From the outset, my aim was for these the stories to reflect the realities of the sport, highlight the ongoing drive for equality and representation, and champion the nurturing of the next generation of female cricketers. The alignment of these core themes with the work of Her Game Too makes this partnership a natural fit.
A share of royalties from every sale will go to supporting organisation’s work, and we’ll be launching exclusive offers and goodies very soon!”
Paige Caunce, Head of Her Game Too Cricket, said: “We are delighted to be
working alongside Chrissie and supporting the ‘She Can Play’ series.
It is incredibly important to us that women and girls, as well as men and boys, are able have visible role models to aspire to be and to learn from – so often we are captured and inspired by the characters we read in books, and it is no different in sports literature.
The books in the trilogy, whilst fictional, give readers insight into the real world of professional Women’s cricket – both the good and the bad. Dotted throughout the storylines are aspects of the game that align with Her Game Too’s work in cricket - from increasing visibility to tackling discrimination – which is why we are happy to be showcasing our support for the series.
I’d like to thank Chrissie for their support of our campaign so far and we are very much looking forward to collaborating in the future.”
A share of royalties from the ‘She Can Play’ series will be donated to Her Game Too Cricket.
