Her Game Too have today announced a joint partnership with Liverpool Feds Women Football Club.

The club itself have partnered with Her Game Too, with Angie Berwick becoming the club's Her Game Too Ambassador.

Angie Berwick spoke to Her Game Too about her role becoming the club's Ambassador, touching on playing football with her Grandads when she was younger, growing up in a family with Liverpool FC fans before being introduced to Liverpool Feds by her Daughter, Angie has brilliant ideas about where she wants to be with Her Game Too in five years.

Angie speaks about living in a family of diehard Liverpool fans and her first exposure to football when she was younger.

“This would have to be when my Grandads would play football with me in the garden or local park, football was the go-to activity to play.

“Alongside this, Liverpool FC would always be on the TV or radio with both grandparents

being LFC supporters. I think Saturday afternoons watching my grandad watch one match on

‘the box’ while simultaneously having a small radio glued to his ear to listen to another match, created an incredible excitement around the game.”

Angie always maintained a love of football was present in her life, but in 2005, the UEFA

Women’s Euro’s in England that really ignited her love of the game.

“Back in 2005 when England hosted the Women’s Euro’s I went to watch England at Ewood Park and remember being carried away by the atmosphere of the event.

“Watching a then young legend Karen Carney on the pitch made me proud to be an England fan and want to go to more games. Shortly after this I started attending Liverpool FC Women games and became a season ticket holder, which I still am.“

Her Daughter was a coach for Liverpool Feds, having started that role in the 2019/2020 season and was immediately in awe of the lower league scene.

“How I came to support Liverpool Feds WFC was through my daughter. She started coaching for their grassroots teams back in 19/20 and we went to one of the first team games shortly after. I was blown away by how good the team were and how close you could get to the players and the experience of the game.

“The club was very friendly and open to supporters. I have no idea how it go to where I am now as it just sort of happened. I started attending lots of games, asked to get involved with the club and was welcomed with open arms. From there on in, I am now a ‘number one fan’ while also developing the match day experience and looking after the volunteers.”

Becoming an ambassador for Her Game Too has Angie wanting to encourage people to attend games and have good access to being involved in football from the grassroots level.

“Firstly to encourage more women and girls that to attend football matches and feel the amazing atmosphere that you only get from being there. Having observed the game from a supporters perspective at local, national and international level I have seen the inequalities, struggles and triumphs. Being involved in the game now with the Feds is an honour and I want to do everything I can to get it right for our girls and women who want to support, play, coach and work in football from grassroots right up to the Super League.

“Being an ambassador for Her Game Too is the greatest honour and privilege as it will enable me to have access to an army of women who all want the same thing and are driving forward the supporter experience to make it inclusive and safe. If I can make just one small impact in this role it will be a humbling and incredible experience.”

Abbey Pope, General Manager from Liverpool Feds Women also commented on the partnership.

“Liverpool Feds are long term advocates for gender equality in football since our creation in 1990. By partnering with Her Game Too, we further affirm our dedication to creating a level playing field where female athletes can thrive without the barriers of sexism and discrimination.

“The club recognises the importance of community and the role football plays in bringing people together. This partnership reinforces our commitment to supporting their local community by promoting inclusivity and ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender, feels welcome and valued in the sport.

We want to:

  • Promote a safe environment

  • Encourage participation at all levels

  • Advocate and represent women's football

“Joining forces with Her Game Too allows Liverpool Feds to significantly contribute to raising awareness about the challenges women face in football.”
