Her Game Too is excited to announce a partnership with Darlington FC, as well as appointing a new HGT Fan Ambassador for the club, Joanne Cameron.
David Johnston, Darlington CEO, expresses the significance in supporting Her Game Too.
“The board, staff and players at Darlington FC are delighted to extend and deepen our partnership with Her Game Too. Equality in sport has evolved massively and we want to keep this pace of change going. By partnering with HGT, we accelerate our understanding and learn from peer clubs, which is a great resource to draw on.”
Joanne Cameron is the latest Ambassador to join the Her Game Too family, representing Darlington FC.
“I came across Her Game Too via social media and was really interested and impressed with the work that they do. I wanted to be part of it!
“I became interested in football because of my son. He played football and also wanted to go and watch DFC play but, due to his age at the time, he couldn’t go alone so I took him. The phrase "if you can’t beat them, join them” springs to mind.”
Along with her fellow HGT Ambassadors, Jo would love to see more football clubs partner with HGT, as well as to spread the message within her community.
“I would like to see each club become part of HGT, and [see] the brand and vision grow. HGT [needs] to be the first point of contact for women and girls who experience sexism and misogyny.
“As an ambassador for Her Game Too, I want to actively promote HGT’s vision, tackle sexism in football, promote equality and ensure football is a sport for all. It should be a welcoming environment for everyone.
“As well as playing an active role at my own club, I will also extend this to schools and junior teams in my area.”
